Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to provide a design example of an authentication service as a means of privacy in information exchange between presentation entities. The service is contained in the session layer and interfaces with the lower layer transport service and upper layer presentation entities. The transport layer service interface is defined to be compatible with the DoD IP/TCP standard and the NBS proposed ISO transport standard.
