Abstract

The goal of the educator is to instill the knowledge that they have about any given subject into their students so that they not only understand the material but also know how to apply it. This applies to Computer Science and Electrical Engineering when studying the field of Data and Computer Communications which covers everything from broadcast AM/FM radio and television to computers and the internet. While the subject can be quite interesting, there is a "dark side" that the educator must approach with caution. That is the hacking and cracking of these systems. This paper describes what one professor does and does not do when this subject comes up.
