Dear Readers: No, I've not dropped off the face of the earth, but thanks to an unusually heavy travel schedule, I've had to defer this column for two issues. In the meantime, I've collected quite a healthy backlog of letters, so let me dig into this pile and try to catch up on some interesting issues. In this column, I'll address some coding topics, plus a practical concern regarding recompilation overhead in the presence of program unit change.
