Abstract

I am writing about the paper by A. Petrella and H. Farrey, of IBM, SIMULATING WORKING SETS UNDER MVS, reprinted in the SIGMETRICS Newsletter, Issue (8, 4), winter 1979-80. The paper is an amalgam of very good modeling work and misinformation about the working set concept. I will summarize the important contributions and give a short essay about working sets.
