Abstract

Systems morphology is usually assumed to be a function of the problem and the applied design heuristic. Recently, however, it has been suggested that the designer's psychological characteristics may have an impact as well. This study attempts to measure the impact of various cognitive metrics and experience on the structural characteristics of data flow diagrams. It appears that a statistically significant relationship does exist and it may well prove to be useful in the assignment of systems analysts to analysis and design tasks.
