Abstract

Normally, the implementation of meta-search engines adopts centralized methodology at present. When treating with massive data, the limitation of processing abilities of computers becomes a bottleneck of processing search results and increasing search speed. Existing search engines ubiquitously have many kinds of problems, such as the scope of searching is not wide enough, accessed sites are unbalance, primal content is scarce, and the information is not uniform. In contrast, distributed meta-search engine can solve these problems very well.In this paper, we present a distributed meta-search engine (DMSE), which is implemented with distributed client/server architecture. DMSE can solve above problems efficiently. This approach can widely exert the inherent advantages of both of meta-search method and distributed technology. This paper discusses a pattern-oriented design scheme of distributed meta-search engine architecture.
