After installing an OS distribution, a computer is generally not yet properly adapted to go into production at the local site. Security policies must be implemented, local services configured, and standard application settings deployed. Solutions to this problem range from unpacking a tar archive in the root directory to sophisticated tools like Cfengine [3].This paper presents TemplateTree II, a highly modular approach for solving the post-installation problem which uses Cfengine as a transport mechanism.
