In Grid computing environments it is common practice to use grid middleware as the intermediate layer between end user/application and existing functionalities available on the resources. The purpose of this paper is to introduce GridDeploy, a toolkit for automatically deploying programs as Grid services and providing the necessary infrastructure for users' applications to invoke these services directly and transparently. Two different strategies for deployment of Grid services are proposed: one exploits semantics of programs stored in a repository and converts them into Application-Specific Grid Services; the other one provides support for creation and invocation of General Grid Services for general applications that don't require permanent deployment.
