Abstract

In our internet-enabled classrooms, many tools are freely available to present students with interactive experiential learning opportunities. At Lyon College, we have spent time and energy studying techniques for constructing animations to enhance learning. Mathematics and Physics concepts are presented using surrealistic animations which demonstrate difficult ideas in short "concept clips" that can be accessed at appropriate times. We have found that this approach is greatly appreciated by students and indeed may serve to enable educators to present difficult concepts in a way that captures the students' imagination and facilitates comprehension. In our presentation, we will show several of these visualizations, discussing the particular algorithm, theorem or physical law which is applicable.
