A novel approach for generating quadrilateral meshes on trimmed three-dimensional surfaces is proposed. The parametric plane to Cartesian space mapping technique is extensively employed in this approach. Newly defined 'separators', are created on a given surface and nodes are generated on them. The relationship between nodes and separators, which is invariant in both the parametric plane and Cartesian space, is maintained for the ease of triangulation. Trimmed surfaces are discretized and the resulting meshes are presented to validate the proposed algorithm.
