Abstract

Electronic commerce (or e-commerce) enables the execution of transactions between two or more parties using interconnected networks. These networks can be a combination of POTS (plain old telephone service), cable TV, leased lines, or wireless. Information based transactions are creating new ways of doing business and even new types of businesses. Improvements from implementing e-commerce may result in more effective performance (better quality, greater customer satisfaction, and better corporate decision making), greater economic efficiency (lower costs), and more rapid exchange (high-speed, accelerated, or real-time interaction).
