Abstract

In order to adapt to complex interactions among customers, suppliers, manufacturers, markets, and other elements of their businesses, enterprises must strive for maximum responsiveness. Many firms have typically relied on the sense-and-respond paradigm for monitoring and managing business solutions. But a new breed of platforms and tools that use the S&R paradigm are making it possible to build an effective decision-making process into an enterprises' software and equipment. In this article, the authors discuss S&R grids and give working examples of how S&R systems can help manage business activities.
