Abstract

In this paper we discuss the challenges in constructing composite media service paths on an overlay network, and outline our approach. We consider the possibility of serial and parallel, convergent and non-convergent paths, due to the potential presence of content adaptation services that are able to multiplex and de-multiplex independently routable media streams. We outline the major issues, and propose a distributed search based approach that facilitates the discovery of directed serial and parallel composed service paths on a media routing overlay.
