Abstract

In group communications, multiple processes first establish a group and then each process sends a packet to multiple processes while receiving packets from multiple processes in the group. In addition, packets are required to be causally delivered to each process. Due to the limited computation resources, processes cannot send and receive as many packets as they would like to do. Since packets from multiple processes may simultaneously arrive at the process, the process cannot receive all the packets due to the buffer overruns even if each sender process sends packets at an assigned rate, multi-source buffer overrun. In this paper, we propose a novel synchronous transmission procedure (STP) where multiple processes synchronously send packets to a process to resolve the multi-source buffer overrun.
