This paper describes two usability tests conducted on a multimodal application. This application is designed for mobile phones. The first test is done in a laboratory. The second test is done in the street. The aim of this paper is to present both tests and to compare them. The main result is that both tests present advantages and drawbacks and that they complement each other. The in-laboratory test allows more precise analysis. The in-street test gives the possibility to observe behaviours induced by a richer context.
