Abstract

For years now in teaching a course in modeling and simulation, I have had the uncomfotable feeling that it is not really possible to teach both modeling and simulation techniques concurrently. The universality of models - an expected value model, a timelag series model for forecasting, an inventory control model, a transportation model, an educational model with projected enrollment by curriculums, to indicate but a few - has promted me to consider the developing of one course in modeling and a separate course to be taken afterwards in simulation methods.
