Abstract

Technical communicators tend to do most of their communicating about computer systems after the fact. That is, to a very large extent, we spend our time describing systems that have already been designed, often ones that are already in operation. The documentation we produce, if properly done, is clearly a useful part of the system environment. However, we generally do our work within a very narrow portion of the system life cycle.
