Abstract

Peer-to-peer (P2P) services are very popular for downloading music, movies, and television shows. Unfortunately, content owners see P2P technology as a threat to their business models and would like to prohibit the use of it. But undisputed content services will also benefit from P2P technology. This paper describes trends related to P2P and Internet television, it introduces a service solution to deliver high-quality television content via a near zero-cost P2P distribution infrastructure, and it proposes future work in the area related to Internet television.
