Abstract

Due to the ubiquitous infrastructure of high-speed networks real-time streaming of audio and video becomes more and more important. Different kinds of network are present in home as well as automotive environments. These networks usually have particular end devices and use their own protocols and data formats. To make multimedia sources and sinks of one network also available to devices on another network gateways are required. This paper points out the functions such gateway has to provide with a focus on timing issues and describes the concept of a multimedia streaming gateway.
