Abstract

A software tool for constructing trellis diagram and tracing visually the Viterbi decoder of augmented twodimensional (2D) row and column (RAC) array codes has been designed and implemented. Augmentation technique of 2D RAC codes given here has been performed by utilizing parity-check positions. The augmentation process can be conducted on only row-parity check positions, or on both row and column positions. The tool provides an interface for introducing errors at specific array positions and their effect can be easily determined. The visual tool has been implemented in an adaptive manner, so be able to change different parameters of these codes and see their effects immediately.
