This paper relates a multidisciplinary research about the specification of a multimodal interface for architectural design. After three recollections concerning the characteristics of a design process, the functionalities of existing CAD tools and the scientific experience of multimodal HCI, the paper presents the observations made from an original experiment about the analysis of the designer's graphical, vocal and gesture activity. The paper then suggests operational specifications for a creative HCI for architects.
