This paper proposes alternative strategies to perform simulation within a simulation optimization algorithm based on tabu search. These strategies are tested empirically on a stochastic knapsack problem. Results have shown that the way simulation is implemented and the number of simulation replications have a prAB@ofound effect on the performance of tabu search.
