Abstract

The use of modelling information in comparison to the real-time data about the conditions of the individual components of complex automation systems improve the reliability of the fault detection procedure that is applied to these systems. This paper illustrates the modelling process of hydraulic proportional valves as well as the way that model-based and signal based methods have been used to determine changes in characteristics from measured state variables. For the final diagnostic process information and knowledge have been used cooperatively.
