Abstract

The need for affordable stronger authentication for enterprise access is getting more urgent due to the high mobility of the workforce and the increasing threat of intrusion attacks. This paper presents a strong authentication solution for enterprises. The solution proposes to use as security token the mobile phone together with its SIM card. In fact, the mobile phone is currently the most used mobile device and to use and re-use it in the authentication of the user will not incur additional expenses. The strong authentication based on SIM card will therefore have low acceptance threshold. It is also universal since GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) is definitely the largest mobile system in the world. By placing the mobile phone close to the PC, the user can simply and safely log into his corporate Intranet.
