Abstract

Web services is fast becoming a mature technology. Several businesses have already embraced this technology and in some cases, the business model itself is rede.ned. This paper describes WSEXP --- a tool for teaching Web services concepts and its building blocks. WSEXP facilitates handson experimentation with UDDI business registries, obtaining and analyzing WSDL documents, invoking Web service operations, and examining SOAP requests and responses. It also provides pointers to learning resources for various Web services technology enablers such as XML, XML Schema, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI. The paper concludes by pointing out pedagogical implications of using WSEXP in computer science education.
