Computational Grid requires interoperable Grid agent middleware in order to interact with scientific instruments and sensors. Robust interaction among Grid applications and instruments or sensors can be achieved by a set of message sequences forming a communication protocol by a Grid agent middleware. A Grid agent wishing to interact with a large number of heterogeneous instruments or sensors that can get modified in times does not need to have detailed knowledge of how to interact with any instruments or sensors services. This requires a Grid agent implement the communication protocol for the instrument or sensors on the fly to interact using application-specific methods of a Grid application with scientific instruments or sensors. This paper presents an interoperable Grid agent framework.
