Abstract

The ongoing development of computer-based teaching and learning, as well as the steadily increasing capacity and versatility of communication networks, has opened new possibilities of media-based knowledge transfer that will bring about the establishment of an electronic market for education and training. This article introduces the concept of an Electronic Education Mall (EEM) that supports communication and interaction processes between buyers and sellers in this market. The EEM is a virtual service center facilitating market transactions by providing a multitude of service functions. "Products" that can be mediated by an EEM are shown, using university-based telelearning approaches as an example.
