Abstract

In this paper, we present the real time implementation of a control methodology for the attenuation of beam vibrations in a smart structure paradigm caused by a narrow-band exogenous force. By narrow-band exogenous force we mean a periodic force over a narrow frequency band or a particular harmonic. The particular control method is based on the minimization of a frequency dependent quadratic cost functional. This control method has been used successfully in various applications; however, this investigation differs from other works in that it emphasizes the real-time implementation of this model-based control methodology using real-time partial state measurements.
