In ad hoc networks, many applications which use topology information have been proposed. However, most of them generate a large amount of control traffic on the application layer to grasp the network topology. In this paper, we propose topology information generation methods to reduce the control traffic. In our methods, each mobile host generates the topology information by using a routing table managed by a routing protocol. In addition, in order to improve the accuracy of the topology information, each host issues pseudo packets according to the information on radio links between mobile hosts and their lifetimes. Furthermore, we verify the effectiveness of our methods by simulation experiments.
