Abstract

In this paper we present a wireless solution for monitoring people in need of medical assistance. The application relies on the use of cell phones and inexpensive sensors and is best suited for the elderly and home-bound people. The main functions of the proposed architecture are: (1) Ability to collect signals through a wireless sensor network using protocols like ZigBee and Bluetooth (2) Optimized analysis of data through an adaptive architecture that allows efficient processing of data (3) Real-time alerts and notification. Implementing the above features results in an efficient health-monitoring system, providing an improved medical support for people in their homes and in assisted living environments.
