We propose a revised companding method to reduce peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of the over-sampled OFDM signals. By combining the advantage of the traditional companding and clipping, the proposed method can achieve a large reduction in PAPR with low BER performance. In particular, through studying the complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) of the PAPR of an OFDM signal, this paper shows that the proposed method can outperform the previous method substantially.
