We discuss the design and implementation of task migration in the Charm parallel programming environment. Charm [7] is a language and run-time system for developing portable parallel applications for MIMD machines that supports a coarse-grained dataflow model of programming. We analyze the performance of migration in detail and demonstrate its efficiency on one nonshared memory machine: the nCUBE/2 hypercube.
