MobilenodeswithunidirectionalnetworkinterfacesarenotconsideredasaspecialcaseinthestandardisationofMobileIPv6.Fortheintegrationofunidirectionalbroadcasttechnologies,suchasDVB-HandDVB-T,intomobileIPv6environmentwithheterogeneousaccessnetworks,thereisaneedtosupportthehandoverandQoS requirements of mobile services using unidirectional accessnetworks. In this paper, scenarios for handover of mobile nodeswith unidirectional links are analysed. In the different use cases, mobile services using downstream unidirectional connections forreceptionand upstreamchannelsforreturnconnectivity basedon additional wireless access networks are described.Forseamlessservicecontinuation, when mobile nodes movestoaccessnetworks withunidirectionallinks, theinteractionoftheLinkLayerTunnelling Mechanisms(RFC3077)withtheMobile IPv6 and Fast Handovers protocol is discussed. The ideaistoallowtheobtainingoftheIPtunneladdressfortheemulation of return path before the handover happens. The QoSmanagementforunidirectionalaccessnetworksisproposedbasedonQoSbrokersreservingresourcesseparatelyforthedownstreamandupstreamlinks.Tosupportmobileservicesusing unidirectional networks, QoS information base describingalso capabilities of return channels is taken into consideration.
