Abstract

Software Engineering is often treated as a mere technical challenge. However, especially in industry projects we primarily have to ask what value a software engineering activity generates. To create as much value as possible during a software project, we have to be able to make economically balanced decisions. This paper presents some general thoughts about balanced decision making in software engineering and drafts a concrete example for a value-oriented, light-weight process improvement approach.
