Abstract

Vellis and Capsalis [Wireless Personal Communication, Vol. 15 pp. 207---219, 2000] pioneered the concept of VeCa distribution to study the statistical behavior of the received signal when a user is present near the transmitting handset antenna. In this note, we derive a comprehensive class of formulas for the VeCa distribution to help better statistical modeling of fast fading in the presence of a user. The corresponding estimation procedures are also derived by the method of moments.
