This work describes how a statistical parser which was originally designed to parse English was adapted to parse Chinese with little human effort. The only modifications were a head table for Chinese and a set of automatically derived word features for dealing with unknown Chinese words. When trained on the Chinese Treebank, the resulting parser achieves state of art performance on parsing tokenized Chinese sentences.
