Although 2D barcode technology offers exciting applications, it's still in its infancy, partly because no global standard for 2D barcodes in camera phone applications exists. This article discusses the reliability and suitability of 2D barcodes as candidates for a global standard and identifies key factors for improving 2D-barcode reading's robustness.
