Abstract

The use of Grammatical Evolution for automating the intrusion detection rules is investigated in this paper. We apply this method to the KDD99 intrusion dataset and demonstrate its usefulness in this context. We achieve favorable results by evolving rules for classifying both normal and abnormal traffic.
