In this paper, an analytical model is introduced to evaluate the performance of a computational grid, which integrates distributed computing resources and supplies them through the Internet transparently. Because of the intrinsic heterogeneity and complexity, the performance evaluation approach for Grid is much more difficult than that of the traditional distributed computing environment. First, this paper presents a grid model of multi-server queue with different service rates and, then describes how to obtain the analytical performance evaluation solution in detail. The Markov chain is applied to solve the problem, and the final result can be expressed in a simple form. Simulation studies confirm the correctness and effectiveness of the solution too.
