Abstract

The strategic value of information systems and the impact of information technology on businesses have increased the need for effective Strategic Information Systems (SIS) development. But the available methodologies for the development of SIS stress different issues, hence there is no clear guidance available for SIS development. Further review of literature indicates that in the case of developed and developing countries, a gap exists in the application of an integrated model for the development of SIS. Thus this study proposes a model and tests the model by collecting data from 164 managers who worked in Indian public sector undertakings. The results show that for the different constructs of the model, there are different factors, which must be considered by the organisations while developing SIS.
