Abstract

In this paper an approach is presented for the design of ubiquitous technologies designed for domestic use. There has been, in general, extended research and innovation on the applications, interface and software possibilities and a lot of design exploration on the material shape and form of domestic awareness technologies. Nevertheless, there is a considerable lack of research and reflection on the spatial qualities of such technologies. My primary concern is that emerging domestic technologies should shape themselves in ways that relate to the inherently human ability to read, remember and spiritually connect with space, creating a delicate web of intimacies.
