Abstract

This interactive learning object illustrates ambiguities of marching cubes. We depict them in 2D, that is, we regard squares instead of cubes. You may directly manipulate two circle objects. The objects are sampled on a regular grid (blue points) and the marching square algorithm approximates the objects with lines. Move the circles to adjacent locations to experience how we resolve ambiguities by an additional midpoint test.
