Abstract

As a general lack of quantitative measurement data for pathwaymodelling and parameter identification process, time-seriesexperimental design is particularly important in current systemsbiology research. This paper mainly investigates statemeasurement/observer selection problem when parametricuncertainties are considered. Based on the extension of optimaldesign criteria, two robust experimental design strategies areinvestigated, one is the regularisation-based design method, andthe other is Taguchi-based design approach. By implementing to asimplified IκBα – NF - κB signallingpathway system, two design approaches are comparatively studied. When large parametric uncertainty is present, by assuming thatdifferent parametric uncertainties are identical in scale, twomethods tend to provide a similar uniform design result.
