This paper deals with an analytic solution of spectrum changes that appear in nonlinear discrete systems without memory whose transfer characteristics can be approximated via a piecewise-linear function. Such systems appear frequently in digital audio signal processing, for example in the case of signal saturation, overflow, elimination of denormal numbers, etc. The paper also deals with relations between the mutual ratio of amplitudes of the higher harmonics produced and the approximation parameters.
