Abstract

On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) is a trend in database technology, based on the multidimensional view of data and it is an indispensable component of the so-called business intelligence technology. The paper presents an approach based on OLAP technology for solving some decision problems about environment protection. A multidimensional data model for water pollution in the textil e industry is described. An analysis of this model is performed using OLAP. Several risk measures for pollution assessment are defined. One of them, the upper partial moment, is applied for the risk management.
