We consider two electrons confined in spherical GaAs and CdSe quantum dots and calculate their ground-state spatial entanglement exactly within a parabolic confinement model. We propose a perturbative scheme to approximate the above entanglement within density-functional theory and show that it reproduces the exact results quite accurately for GaAs dots of diameter up to 25nm and CdSe dots of diameter up to 15nm.
