Abstract

The aim of Usability evaluation is to establish if the users can effectively make use of what is being provided by an application. A general concern of the filed is to precisely establish what should be evaluated, and how it should be evaluated. This paper examines this issue specifically in the context of WWW and Hypermedia applications. It is argued that usability for WWW applications should focus upon structure and navigation, and that inspection appears more suitable than empirical testing. The innovative approach of SUE, with the use of a design model, abstract tasks and concrete tasks is also briefly described.
