Abstract

In this puper we illustrate the peculiar characteristics of music archives by describing a representative case study: the Multimedia Object-Relational Architecture of the Musical Archive Information System (MAIS) at Teutro alla Scala. We summarize the music contents of the archive and we describe the methods we use to represent them within MAIS. Finally, we present the innovative ,features our system provides to query and retrieve musical information.
