Abstract

Recently Cha et al. presented an efficient extended Hough transform (EHT) method to detect lines, each line segment with desired length. Instead of performing the voting process twice for each edge pixel in the EHT method, this comment presents a simple modification such that each edge pixel in the edge map only needs to perform the voting processing once. This modification leads to 16% execution-time improvement ratio when compared to the EHT method, and it is very close to the theoretical execution-time improvement ratio, 14%.
