Abstract

An exploratory study was conducted on the use of a Mixed Reality (MXR) prototype in a typical primary (11 years-old) class to facilitate the learning of seed germination and plant growth in the Singapore Primary Science curriculum. Quantitative analysis of pre-post test results showed no significant differences in test performance. Qualitative analysis of pupils' behaviour indicated significant engagement and motivation encouraged by the use of the technology. Issues involving pedagogical approach, MXR technology and learning are discussed. Plans for subsequent trials are also outlined.
